Both designers Emiel Vaessen, born in 1958, and Gert Jan Vogel, born in 1960, met at the Academy of Arts and Design in Rotterdam. In 1985, they started together design agency Duo Design.

Duo Design specializes in the design, development and manufacture of its own product line. Simplicity of the interior design details and intricacies of applying high quality materials are the hallmarks of these designers. Duo Design collection is sold in many countries, several of their creations can be found in the museums of modern art and design.
