Kann design
Kann Design, manufacturer, publisher and furniture designer, since 2010, explores the design through the encounter of designers with a style and an era : the 50s. Backed by a holder of a workshop know-how for more than fifty years, very marked by the production of Scandinavian furniture, Kann Design continues this legacy and built his DNA around this style.
Immersed in the world of artisanal furniture since childhood, it was only natural than Houssam Kanaan is moving in this direction and shows the Lebanese workshop of his father. With a background in marketing and experience in editing furniture, Houssam decided in 2010 to build the skills of artisans from his studio and his own publishing imprint. He is joined by two relatives, his wife Meghedi, graphic designer, and Rudy, photographer and childhood friend : Kann Design was born.
Expertise Made in Lebanon : Kann Design relies on the expertise and know-how of a workshop established in 1958 in Lebanon by Kanaan. Twelve artisans present for the majority since the creation of the workshop are involved in daily adventure Kann and put all their passion and dexterity in the service of making furniture : carpenters, cabinetmakers, upholsterers and painters. This method of artisanal producing allows Kann Design manufacture bespoke furniture at reasonable prices.
Kann Design promotes a sustainable development approach. All the wood used - beech, oak, rosewood, walnut and ibanos - are FSC certified, waste wood are recovered in neighboring workshops to produce certain products and movements are restricted to control the carbon footprint. The expertise and flexibility allow Kann workshop to make furniture to order and respond to bespoke projects.
